• Goat-proofing: Goats are notorious for challenging fences. Ensure the chosen fencing material is robust enough to withstand their rubbing and potential jumping.
• Height: A minimum of 4 to 5 feet is recommended for most goats, especially those breeds with known jumping abilities.
• Mesh size: For woven or welded wire, select a small mesh size (e.g., 2x4 inches) to prevent younger goats from getting their heads stuck or escaping. Avoid vertical spacing around 6 inches for horned goats to prevent them from getting trapped.
• Predator deterrence: If predators are a concern, choose strong fencing materials and consider burying the bottom or adding a barbed wire strand to prevent digging underneath.
